London Marathon Broadcast 2016

The London Marathon is without a doubt one of London's best events. The runners are on their way to achieving an amazing feat, the crowds are ecstatic and BBC Radio London are there bringing all the action to the listeners at home. I was the producer of the morning show, which came live from onboard the Cutty Sark in Greenwich. My role was to co-ordinate with all the reporters around the course and the team back at base to make sure the show was covering all the action around the entire route. There were two presenters on board hosting the show, so I was responsible for producing their content too, as well as managing the technical team.
It's a big operation, with 10 reporters and two presenters, so organisation and a firm action plan are key. Also important was to provide my presenters with content they could use if a reporter wasn't ready, so I had facts and figures in abundance for them to use, as well as pre recorded content they could cut to.
I was also posting pictures and videos to the Twitter, Facebook and Instagram accounts, where people could reply with their messages of support and have them read out on air.
