Loops + Cycles

  • Alistair Moncur
Exploring different mediums of animation and stop motion, loops and cycles was a litteral interpretation of the words as they were re-interpretated by looking at knots made with rope.

The animation begins with the rope being drawn on screen as it travels down, gaining complexity as more knots appear and tighten, revealing loops.

Floating words follows on as they form the shape of '&' - each word was a different name of knot that can be tied as a large amount of research towards this project focused upon the form and motion in tie-in a knot.
Cycles was then finally formed through the use of stop motion as the rope was slowly positioned taking shape to form the word.
