Madame Butterfly - The Trapped Butterfly - The Royal Albert Hall

  • Nicole Luk
Base on Puccini’s opera Madame Butterfly, this project aimed to make an immersive performance for the unseen spaces of the Royal Albert Hall. My performance was experienced in the loading bay of RAH where allowed the audience to watch the performance from far away to a close up as well as different angles around the set.

I used the element of Japanese Bondage to expresses how we ‘pin’ people down with cultural stereotype. The performance has showen how Pikerton trapped himself in the cage by his own fascination of Madama Butterfly and his perfection of how Madama Butterfly would sacrifice for love.
