MADE51

The opportunity to work and earn a living is one of the most effective routes through which refugees can rebuild their lives in dignity and peace. MADE51 makes that possible.
Newly set up by the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR), MADE51 is a global initiative dedicated to helping artisans and craftspeople fleeing war or persecution achieve independence by providing a platform to market their crafts. Working with a worldwide network of social enterprises, MADE51 helps provide refugees with a sustainable livelihood while helping to keep traditional crafts alive.
The MADE51 collection comprises a diverse range of handmade goods that have been made by refugee artisans. The growing selection of products ranges from pile rugs hand-knotted by refugees returning to Afghanistan to traditionally embroidered cashmere made by Syrian refugees in Jordan and woven bamboo lampshades crafted by displaced Burmese craftspeople living in Thailand.  Products such as these are both beautifully crafted objects and a tangible testament to the creative contribution that the world’s growing refugee population can – and does – make to the world economy.

WHAT WE DO FOR MADE51

We’re very happy to be supporting MADE51 in these exciting early stages of its development. Zetteler is helping the initiative as it builds its brand and expands its network and platform, secures new strategic partners, and introduces its collection to the global craft and design market.
