Maleficent

As a module for my course, I had to create at least three prosthetic pieces. I did five. We were given a topic and as a tutor, we decided on fairy tales. I chose Maleficent as a transformed dragon for theatre, This followed from a previous project which also involved reptilian skin. I saw this as an opportunity to design and improve old ideas; The costume was as a result of an old Halloween costume, with the addition of some home made horns.
Originally, the intention was to use Antelope horns to enhance the realism of the character, however, I struggled to give those horns anchor points at the time, and could not guarantee that the horns would stay through out the day.
This gave me a great opportunity to see what effect this has on my model, in this case, my mother. She embraced her character and in an prosthetic that would easily be seen as a claustrophobic, it was also designed to allow my mother to breathe out of her nose as well as her mouth. ,
