When I first looked at the drawn version of “Malika”, that a learner at the day centre “Prosvasi” had drawn, I could not tell if it was a human or a fictional creature. When looking at it closely, everything made perfect sense – “Malika” is a unique human being, representing individuality, celebrating art in its purest form. In the original drawing, “Malika” was just 24cm tall, but I have brought her to “life”, by recreating her in a larger scale – reaching three metres. The simple lines and abstract shapes that “Malika” were kept in the plush-toy I produced, creating an imposing childlike feeling.
