Manipulation Untouched

Planned and executed a successful art exhibition: Manipulation Untouched (100+ guests) along with securing a number of sponsors. The exhibition was included in Artweek Auckland and also contained artwork of my own along with the works of three other artists who I'd approached #manipulationuntouched
Sponsors included Asahi beer, Somersby cider, Collaboration Wines, Navi Collaborative, Petal Cupcakes, The Raw Kitchen and Whitedog Print and Copy.

"My (Brodie S. A. Thompson) vision for the exhibition begins with my photos, they take on the role of our physical realm, our surroundings of an environment that society is consigning to oblivion. A manipulated landscape disjointed by our own persistent desire to conform and how this isolates us from reality and draws deeper on a sense of belonging that is never quite achievable.

Ains’ work (graphic design/illustration) depicts how we manipulate our own thoughts, dreams and desires into how we think it should be, not what we truly desire, what our instincts are as beings. This is represented through her structured lines and her colour toning, which allows us to trance into a manipulated dreamlike state….

Jenny’s work (abstract painting) evokes the same dream like trance in the viewer, where colour, shape and lines are manipulated to exist in a velocity of change, that is performed by our subconscious. A pure thought, untouched, portraying a distant memory of a landscape/place in time - to tease us, remind us of a life less forced.

Athena’s work (illustrator) gives a face to this ‘being’, brings a face to the story, a face still so manipulated and constraint by society, depicting so much beauty yet so unfullfilled, untouchable to make us question our obience to manipulation." - Brodie S. A. Thompson
