MARKETPLACE

  • Jordan Groves
Marketplace is a photographic exploration and the inspired result of 6 months research into London’s most iconic street markets and their personalities. The photographer focuses on 7 markets around the city and uses a combination of photography and collage to pick up on the individual traits and characteristics and create a coffee table book which is both parts documentary and emerging fashion editorial. The book aims to be a celebration of the long-standing existence of London markets and the role they play in bringing together local communities by using scanned in raw materials found at the markets and layouts inspired by colour and pattern. In a year where there appears to be a lot of tension in the world between different cultures, London’s markets offer an alternative to this by celebrating different ethnicities and their backgrounds as one big melting pot.
