Max Lamb | The Crockery Chair

British designer Max Lamb, in collaboration with design-driven ceramics brand 1882 Ltd, debuted his Crockery Chairs as a range of new works at Design Miami/ 2024. Exploring the technical difficulty of this undertaking, rather than simply the end result, this film enquires about the many hands that go into making a work of collectible design like this one. Shot on location in Stoke-on-Trent, the heartland of British ceramics, 1882 & Max Lamb invite you to discover a project that is shared between designer and maker, a collaboration that yields an object little like anything that has gone before it. ‘Ceramic, often perceived as fragile and untouchable, intrigued me – especially because ceramic furniture is so rare.
