Vanity breeds contagion. "Media Shower" was intended to be a photoshoot depicting the spread of Media into our lives and how we so easily and obliviously take it in everyday but as the idea developed a short film felt more appropriate in the story telling. As the short film progresses, the consumer becomes more and more immersed in the media world, its influence spreading over her whilst she remains completely unaware. An acoustic cover of Britney Spears ‘oops I did it again’ plays in the background, for me the party princesses of the naughties are the pinnacle of media onslaught. The tabloids covered their every move in their heydays from where they were shopping to what they were eating to what clubs they were falling out of and they bred a new kind of media obsession – an intrusive look into a stranger’s life. The model takes several selfies, the viewer can only assume to upload online and seems totally unphased by the personal nature of the images, she is evidently used to documenting her entire life online. She then exits the room abruptly, ending the video in the same way that you might suddenly lose interest in an Instagram account and click off.
