Meet Aida

  • Sara Anna Nadalini
These are the stories of Palestinian refugees living in Aida, a camp in the north of Bethlehem in the West Bank. I have heard and collected their testimonies through videos and pictures. I chose to depict their stories in a more engaging way: by creating an interactive map of the camp I aim to ease the visual geographical references of the public while enhancing their perception of the place atmosphere.
What stroke me the most about these camp of 5,000 people was the hospitality, kindness and humbleness of the families that opened their door and shared their story with me.
The struggles exist along with their ability to look ahead and resist.
Note. Before mapping the camp and portraying these stories making them public on internet, I did considered pros and cons of such a project. The state of Israel already owns detailed materials with information of various kind on these people, therefore this project does not constitute an advantage for them or a risk for the lives of the families I interviewed.
