Meet the Ramamurthy's: Together Across 130 Countries

A world he was welcomed to has shown him more than he could now. At the prime age of 86, he longs to give all the kindness his heart envelopes. Sri Ramamurthy hails from a family of freedom fighters. Even at the age of 10, he was exposed to the Indian independence movement as his father, uncle, cousins, etc. were close to the leaders fighting the British colonialism.

In 1967, he moved to Zambia, Africa joining the Min. of Finance and then to the P&T Dept. as a senior auditor.
With the experience attained, he joined the Govt. of Botswana as the Dy. Dir. General, P&T Dept. With the vast experience that he gained in national and international finance and economics, he represented the Govt. of Botswana in UN, Commonwealth, and international bank meetings. After serving in Zambia and Botswana, he took up a periodical consultancy with UN Specialised Agencies.
Returning to India around 1990, he started devoting his time to rural development. Focusing his efforts in Education, Health and Livelihood, Programs, he set up an NGO (Society for the Development of Economically Weaker Sections, SODEWS) which is now functioning extensively in about 150 villages.

His mission has drawn appreciation from the government, earned goodwill from the rural people, as his organization works for the improvement of the rural people.
