Mental Health & Suicide

Men have a tendency to remain silent when it comes to their mental health, the stigma surround men makes it hard for them to put a voice to their emotions which results in bottling them up. The creative solution of the problem is to give men a platform and help them understand that it is ok to cry and feel lonely because its a normal experience when mentally ill.

Every project starts with a concept map, these allow the designer/ thinker to fully understand what the subject is, delve into things they wouldnt normally think about. Concept maps are great.
The poster series reflects the content within the book, however the posters need to have more of an impact that will make people stop and digest the information provided. The idea of having strong powerful photography that you wouldn't see day to day makes the public think about the stigma that surrounds males of the UK and those who do suffer from a mental illness can feel they can open up and speak about their emotions because they can heavily relate to the posters created.
Providing men with a reality check and helping them understand the 'normal' when experiencing a
mental ill problem. Documenting possible moods and actions to give them the support they need in
battling through their emotional state, documented at the use of a small hand book.
Additionally an 8 page newspaper spreads were designed in order to reach out to a wider audience, the spreads provide its viewer with stories and honest answers of mental ill health and most importantly those who have experienced the battle with a form or mental health problems.
For better mental health, in memory of my dad, one in a million.
