Migrant Journal Redo
Inspired by BBC Radio 4 episode, this project concentrates on one of the biggest problems in tea plantations- slavery and illegal migration caused by it.
The hypothetical new edition of Migrant Journal features graphics and original illustrations targeted towards designers and collectors. Redesigned issue could educate and bring more attention to this serious problem.
Each year young girls are taken away from their families in the promise of better life and ‘well paid’ jobs. What really happens is often untold- they are sold into rich families as domestic slaves. As tea plantation salaries are low and the problem isn’t dealt with properly, it continues to happen.
