Ministry of Sound - D&AD

This was my entry for the 2012 D&AD Student Awards. I chose the typography brief for Ministry of Sound/Studio Output. The brief was to create three A2 posters for the clubs famous saturday sessions night, the posters needed to be visually attractive so they can be viewed in a passing car, but also display the information for each saturday in the corresponding month. The posters represent the saturdays for September, October and November. The concept behind the posters is to do with the feeling of excitement building up before getting into the club to start your night. September is a cool blue, the buzz of excitement is there, the anticipation of the night ahead, as you make your way to the club, ministry is just starting up, the mood is calm. October moves to a more ambient purple, you are now outside the club, you can hear the bass vibrating through the walls and the excitement has built up. This is shown by the progression in the spiral due to the increase of the bass. Then finally November turns into a vibrant pink, the excitement that’s been building up has erupted into euphoria, you are through the entrance and ready to enjoy a great night. The spirals are there to display the concept and also grab the attention of passers by, once they are drawn in they will take in the information.
