Craft is arguably no longer defined by disciplines or materials and now operates in a hybrid space, between individual authorship and mass production. As a modern-day craftsman, I have explored craft with industry. I have coalesced digital manufacturing and traditional hand printing techniques, to create a piece of furniture that is both individual and highly functional. ‘Miss Marble’ is a CNC routed side table, with a completely unique hand marble printed top surface that can also be easily disassembled for flexibility. Being very interested in sustainable design, I believe that to overcome our obsession with the new, we need to create beautiful objects that we can enjoy and value for a lifetime. Each surface is completely individual and full of vibrancy, using more contemporary patterns and colours. You can choose between two heights of leg, or have both as the top surface is universal.
She is fully disassembling to be a part of our ever nomadic lifes.
The name ‘Miss Marble’ came from the idea that we anthropomorphise our most valued objects while also being a joyful play on the Miss Marple character.
