Mother May I

  • Brandon Polack

Inspired by Paul Kingsnorth’s “Uncivilisation: The Dark Mountain Manifesto”, Mother May I is an installation within a restful space allowing for reflection on the Anthropocene. Where one would reflect on themselves, an egocentric viewpoint, the mirror has become a living organism, calling for a direct interaction between man and nature. A lit altar-piece of black sand, a cactus, and a glass bottle of water foreshadow potential darkness to come despite the presence of sufficiency.
