Nando's

This Nando’s project was just a bit of fun. It came about because even though lots of people, including me, really love Nando’s, I was having a hard time trying to find the reason why. The prices are not extremely cheap, but their tables are sticky, their chicken is their pride and glory, yet many of the times I have been there it has been slightly undercooked, staff are there, but you get a feel that it is because they have to. It all seemed pretty odd to me. Until one day when I was sitting in the Elephant and Castle Nando’s and took some time from my food to look around me: everyone was enjoying themselves. Salsa or merengue (not quite sure!) was playing out loud, there were big groups of friends, couples, families, the staff were all chatting together, smiling… the energy the restaurant had was great!

From this experience I came up with the “Gotta Love Nando’s’ campaign: a chance for Nando’s loving people to express their love for the chicken restaurant chain. I pointed out the wobbly chairs and the sticky tables, the undercooked chicken and the uninterested staff in such a way that when someone crosses paths with the campaign they will get what makes Nando’s well, Nando’s.

If it were to go live, ideas to make the campaign go further would include social media support, interactive ‘Gotta Love Nando’s’ quotes sent in by users… Blank table mats to be placed under every plate with crayons so customers can draw and write why they love Nando’s in their own way.
