Nanotoxicology is a new area of scientific study that deals with building an understanding of the nature of nano particles and the affect they could have on us and our lives due to prolonged consumption and exposure. To ensure that we are developing technologies safely and progression can remain a positive thing. It is however in its infancy and currently not in receipt of the necessary funding to enable it to be an efficient system for hazard testing of said particles. There is no legislation in place that forces a manufacturer to include or publicise the use of nano particles within their products.
A large proportion of these materials are currently deemed safe for the human body. The issue lies in their size. Comparatively a nano particle is so small, that it can infiltrate the human tissues in an unprecedented way. Causing harm to vital systems and manifesting in life altering ways.
