The Zone - Pencil - 206mm x 141mm - 2012

This piece is hand rendered with pencil and depicts a specific state. Whilst stepping into a state that cuts you off from the world and where time is frozen and is not an important element. The triangles however indicates the intensity, concentration and the deep trance. The man is plotted on a path, which leads off to many directions, showing the many possibilities and openings. The paths and triangles layers, also represents 2 shields which the man is inside of, whilst in this surrounding it is a relaxing, vibrant and peaceful mental state to be in. This state is a hiatus to from reality and stepping into the self, whilst contemplating with clarity, lasting for minutes or hours, it was a time of new phases and chance, you might feel lost but with hope, reflective and considerate. In addition the illustration is subtly rendered leaving a soft finish to connect with the concept and feelings.

The original piece was sold in October 2012 at Islington Contemporary Art & Design Fair in Angel, London, to a lady who felt the same emotions within the piece and had a true connection to the concept and art.
The Tree - Pencil & Pen - 199mm x 134mm - 2012

In this piece, different techniques of rendering were applied and a soft grey pen for the dotted background. I took reference from a picture I captured of this contorted tree. My aim was to use a small and effective pallet of greens; light green, grass green and lime green, on the tree to enhance its appearance, and also making it the main focus of the hand rendered piece. This was a very playful piece and showcasing different motions of rendering, and its vibrancy made it very popular amongst people.

The piece was sold at Islington Contemporary Art & Design Fair in London in October 2012, it was a gift passed from mother to daughter, as they admired the beauty in the special colourful tree.
