Author-publishing Business In 2016, a group of authors and writers formed New Degree Press as a platform for creators and independent authors in the growing "Author as Owner" movement. New Degree Press is a hybrid publishing house association that focuses on supporting writers as owners and is an Independent Book Publisher Association. To date, New Degree Press has collaborated with over 800 writers, many of whom have received media attention from outlets such as Newsweek, Washington Post, USA Today, and hundreds of other publications.
