New Designers Panel 2017: Collaboration, Commercialisation & Negotiation

  • Leanne Hammill

New Designers is a huge design event in the UK, pushing on the thriving life cycle of design. The New Designers exhibition brings together design education, design consumers and the design industry to celebrate and recognise the next generation of graduate designers. This year, The Dots brought a double set of panel discussions to the series, surrounding Collaboration, Commercialisation & Negotiation.

The Dots panel provided insights and practical advice on developing commercial relationships and the importance of establishing a consistent brand/identity. It was an opportunity for young designers to learn best practices in negotiation, tips on fruitful collaborations and how to have fun along the way from some of the best in the business!
I hosted the panel with industry icons Carol Lingwood, Head of Costume at the National Theatre, Nick Eley, Head of Design Menswear at ASOS, Harriet Vine, Co-Founder of Tatty Devine, Alice Mayor, Founder of We Built This City, and One Year on curator and founder of Luna & Curious Rheanna Lingham.
