New Roman Times

Key theme of the project is the experimentation with individual letters. The aim is to take away as much as I can while keeping legibility of the letters. To what point can I take away from a letter so that it is still readable? This idea also resulted from research into sustainable typography, and so I decided to experiment with possible outcomes of combining typography and sustainability, also teach myself more about how the letters and words work in more detail. What makes a letter characteristic so that I can take the “unnecessary” parts away? I decided to alter Times New Roman. Serif font seemed better for taking away parts because it would more likely keep its characteristic features. And this paricular one is very familiar to almost everyone, so the reader can recognise it more easily that any other typeface.
The outcome is an otf format, that functions as “reduced” Times New Roman, alongside regular, italic, bold, etc.
