NHEHS Prospectus

  • Daniel Sweeney
Notting Hill & Ealing High School (NHEHS) is an independent school in West London for girls aged 4–18. They have a long tradition of academic excellence and provide a supportive environment for all of their students.

After winning the pitch to design the junior and senior school prospectuses, we spent a lot of time getting to know the school and what made it unique. It was clear from our visits, and through speaking with staff, that the school was a hive of activity and provided a friendly and warm learning environment for the girls.

To communicate this warmth and friendliness, we used a range of different papers and print finishes to make the prospectuses tactile and inviting. This included the use of coloured papers, embossing, metallic inks, clear foiling and a bespoke cover design.

For consistency we kept the same layout and design for the junior and senior schools but changed the colour schemes and imagery to appeal to the different audiences. Busy pages with lots of detail shots were used to show the thriving atmosphere of the school.

Rather than reprinting the prospectuses each year, a separate information booklet was created which contained any time-sensitive information and further details about the school. This sat in a custom made pocket in the cover and could be updated and reprinted each year with minimal cost implications.

We wanted to use a coated, ivory paper for the inside pages but found it difficult to source in the quantities needed. Instead, we cast a subtle yellow tint over all the content to achieve the same effect. This gave added warmth and helped tie the different images together visually.

Since winning the pitch, we continue to work with NHEHS on their marketing materials, including newsletters, event programmes and signage. The school recently published their best ever GCSE examination results and opened state-of-the-art sports and theatre facilities.
