NightBright

My Graduate Project 'NightBright' is one of my personal biggest accomplishments in my digital design portfolio! NightBright is an interactive night light for kids, using an Arduino alongside javascript lirbaries Johnny-Five and Socket.io to communicate with a web interface, resulting in the user being able to control the LED's positioned inside the frame.

The nightlight is customisable by the use of art and technology, allowing users to feel a more personal attachment to the night light and encourages children's creative sides through the creation of the art and the act of story telling.

I had the digital graphics I created laser cut into stencils for the users to be able to draw and cut around to create their own art to be placed within the nightlight. The web interface featured a story book I created, using the digital graphics to relate to the art the users make, and the story used colour prompts for the person telling the story to use in order to follow the storyline.

My project was then displayed at the annual Bournemouth University Digital Media Design Graduate Show, our 2016 show being named 'Digital Constellations'. For the show I designed two A3 posters to convey my product to audience members as well as a 10 second trailer which was shown on a large projector at the shows venue.
