Nudist

  • Annie Ihonor

In collaboration with the NUDIST brand, founded by Azina Amidini, a Fashion marketing and management student at the University For the Creative Arts, we explore what nude really is. Nude has a double entendre; we have your very obvious painting of a nude female and of course in fashion terms, we have the colour NUDE. While the term nude represents a range of colours from a milky beige, soft blush pink to a caramel dip, nude never really hits that hot dark chocolate that we all crave in the middle of winter. So, if you like your coffee dark and strong, keep reading. As a black woman, I can say from over six years of experience, my search for a nude lip is still ongoing. While, I do give credit to all the beauty brands releasing foundation that caters to dark skinned girls, I am still waiting for my nude lip that does not come off as a cloudy pink or an overly dark brown. Now, moving onto even more pressing matters, this is not life or death but it's close - where are the nude coloured dresses and underwear? I'd loved that Victoria Secret's nude lace lingerie set or that Marchesa dress that comes in my shade of nude. The Nudist brand is where to create awareness and represent a sector in the market that will answer all my questions on what nude exactly is in todays' society. I want to wear a dress and say; "Oooppss, I'm not nude?!!"
