Nurtured by Nature

This collection of kinetic jewellery has been inspired by plants and nature, as a reaction to the stresses associated with the Covid 19 pandemic. The importance of the natural world to individuals became clear during the Covid 19 pandemic lockdown periods when people turned to nature in the form of gardens, house plants or wild spaces that were around them. This was to help either improve or maintain their mental health in that stressful time. Many people rediscovered the natural world to help reduce stress levels and escape from the realities of the situations that they found themselves in. I have explored this area by abstracting the theme of nature and creating kinetic aspects within the design of my collection. The use of kinetic elements combined with plant structures within the jewellery aims to draw on these two potential calming and stress relieving components within the jewellery collection. With the overall aim of reducing the wearers stress levels and raising their mood with the nature inspired aesthetics and kinetics of the pieces.
