Oasis is a crisis centre focusing on rehabilitation, support, shelter and education for homeless youth. Our mission was to get people aware of the 44,000 kids in Australia that live in vulnerable situations. As most homeless youth aren't actually on the street but sleeping on random couches, we developed The Couch Project, encouraging people to sleep on their own couch for a night.
To launch the campaign we brought that notion to life. In a public, high traffic place we set up a couch. People either stayed on the couch for an hour or two, or all through the night, and fed their experiences through social media.
