ONE LAPTOP PER CHILD DIGITAL UX WEB APPLICATION DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT

  • James Noble
A beautiful corporate site reflecting a new brand book with custom animation to appeal to the audience whilst still reflecting that this is a program for children. At the time of creation, users were not typically donating from their mobile device so we instead prompted them to send a reminder email to themselves to donate when they were back at a desktop. The language around donations focused on the number of XOs a user wanted to give, rather than a monetary value.

We replaced the existing schools sign up form of seven lengthy pages with a streamlined one page experience to capture basic information required to get principals over the line. The application then gave them the ability to enrol classes and teachers as they had completed their training and order new laptops, automatically issuing invoices as required. To future proof the system, teachers profiles could be transferred across schools and classes. The ground work was then laid to create an environment where teachers could share their One Academy tutorials, experiences and skills with each other, making them the heroes.
