Oppression in the Female Nude

  • Fern Morrey

Conceptually this assisted self-portrait opens question to female nudity and female ownership of form. Using my own form and the material of cling-film, I subjectively this embody societies views upon nakedness and the expressed female-nude. Why are women objectified? Why are women seen as sexual objects if nude? Why do I have to censorship my body compared to that of a males, whom in tern isn't ornamented? Following my feminist incentive, inspired by 1970s female performance artists this performative still questions how and why we perceive the female form always under-fire of judgement, abuse or prohibiting nude female expression.
