'Ostranenie' - the voice of objects

It has always fascinated me to observe how we humans perceive things and how perception of one is so different from the perception of another.

I came across the term 'Ostranenie' when I was reading more about 'perception'.

Ostranenie, was a term coined by Viktor Shklovsky, who introduced it as an artistic technique of ‘defamiliarizing’ the familiar in order to enhance perception of the ordinary or everyday things. Inspired by that, I started wondering what objects and things would say, if given a voice.

At the same time, I was keen to develop my understanding of fonts and their characters.
After discussing it with my writer partner, Shrey Byala, we decided to use these materials for the dialogues we come up with, and share the outcome as an exhibition of experiments with others.

The exhibition worked well, and realising that I was not the only one who saw the worldly things to have character, I decided to work on it further.
