Pain Of Loss

"Pain of Loss" is a story that delves into the complex and often ambiguous experience of grief within the Black community. While grief is typically associated with a tangible loss that can be easily identified, this film explores the more elusive aspects of grief—those that stem from unexplainable circumstances such as the nostalgia of childhood, rejection from a job, a breakup, or the arduous journey toward realising a dream. The aim of this film was to create an atmosphere of sensitivity towards mental health, especially among black men. The film was shot in London in September 2021, shortly after the peak of the pandemic. Due to travel restrictions and budgetary constraints, I had to direct the project remotely from Ghana, marking my first experience with such a setup. Unfortunately, these limitations led to the team missing several crucial shots, resulting in the film being labeled as "unfinished." Despite these challenges, we worked diligently to piece together a coherent story from the available footage. I owe it to my amazing team for making thus film see the light of day.
