The bonsai grow to suit the owner, are modified to grow as desired. Language is the same. Language is modified by the company, person, culture, and time. Evolves, grows but is also limited and in many cases amputee to suit the taste of arbitrary power.
The tree inside the jar symbolizes the essential and particular words preserved in a jar. We preserve our own unique delicately file. Sometimes we leave it to expand by opening the jar, or keeping it closed permitting no evolution.
This piece was exhibited in the contemporary art centre, El Matadero de Madrid, for the exhibition Typo_Mad_12 in October to November of 2012, organized by the Design Centre DIMAD.
