The pod is inspired by seeds and uses nature’s resilience to act as the catalyst for its robust design. The Peckham Pod is a portable recording studio (amongst other potential functions) and offers a meeting point along with a state of the art music centre. Due to its presence within the local community, new talent can be discovered and nurtured. People can engage with the activities that are going on inside by connecting through headphones.
The structure is intended to be entirely sound-proof. This is achieved by the seeds duel skin construction along with its adaptable frame which not only gives the Peckham Pod a great sense of mobility, but also allows it to remain disconnected from the city’s heavy ground vibrations as it is, in some cases, very near to Peckham’s railway lines.
