People Over Profit

A T-shirt and Sweatshirt design in support of garment workers in Bangladesh who have been affected by the Coronavirus pandemic. According to the Center for Global Workers’ Rights, over 1 million garment workers in Bangladesh have lost their jobs or been furloughed due to garment orders and shipments being cancelled and unpaid, with no financial safety net or any promise of getting their jobs back. Garment workers are rarely paid a decent wage so this pandemic will have a drastic negative impact on their livelihoods. The ‘People Over Profit’ design is a reminder that protecting garment workers rights should be standard practice not optional, especially in times of crisis. I originally sold the design through a fundraising campaign to raise funds  and have since added it to my online shop to carry on raising funds for the AWAJ Foundation, a non-profit organisation founded and led by garment workers in Bangladesh, providing everyday support to workers.
