STORY BEHIND OKO PRODUCTIONS

We humans are creatures that constantly move, we often aspire to follow our own dreams and unique callings. I like to see us as little leaves and twigs in a big multitudinous tree, we may be "far" from one leaf to another, but nevertheless we are all a part of ONE tree. Even though we may be different by culture, race, ethnicity, social class; we are all humans that strive to play our part in the greater scheme of life, whether alone or with each other. Living in this world, there are many different changes that we are inevitable to face. Whether it is traveling from different continents, interacting with different people from unique cultures, surpassing barriers within ourselves and others, we have always been and always will be nomads.
Some people may have the calling to be teachers, entrepreneurs, leaders, mothers, fathers, or the even the next Justin Bieber. My calling is as simple as a baby asking its mother for warm milk, I want to be an "inspirer". I want to inspire people with whatever I do in life, small or big doesn't matter as long as I can make people sit down and think, that is my nectar. Because I believe in-order to unlock the greatest potential from one another, inspiration, I know, is the most powerful gift you can give to anyone. Now, how can I do this? It is a life long battle most of us face, we have a goal, but what do we do with it? How do we achieve it? How do we make the "impossible" become the "possible?" I like to see it as we are all painters that have been given a blank canvas to work with since the day we are born. What we do with it, depends which colors you want to add or how many layers you wish to bring out. Some choose to fill it with their accomplishments and "badges" they have got throughout their lives, some choose to fill it with the people they meet and the relationships created. I want to fill my canvas with the colors of those individuals that have taught me those simple lessons that one can't find in any books, nor learn from any lectures, but instead the one's that make you become a better person then you were yesterday so that you can aspire to become better than you are today. My canvas, is not out of my own doings but a collective work done by others.
My grandmother Oko, is someone that is very dear and one I will always love in my heart, I am blessed to not only be her grandson but also to be her student. Even though she passed away on the 5th of February 2015, she has been re-born again on that day, for it is because of her that OKO Production paved way. When she was alive, my grandmother taught me so much about the values and principles of people as single entities as well as collective groups, she made me learn the value of being grateful for the simple delicacies in life as well as the big presents. She never aspired to be great by her accomplishments and doings, but in her own way she showed greatness by her small but yet empowering acts of kindness, sincerity, humility, loving, giving, fairness, wisdom. The way I see things, with so much "advancement" in the human race, such as politics undergoing a paradigm shift from domestic to global importance, economy being considered the ''heart palpitation'' of a nations longevity stature; and terrorism, violence, inequality being the first thing one consumes in the morning along with their cup of coffee, we have forgotten the true essential "roots" that have gotten us to where we are today. In time, I hope OKO Productions can inspire people as my grandmother inspired me, I want people to remember the values that make us human, that make us the same as one another, not different by the labels we are so easily succumb to. Through stories, acting, pictures, videos I hope to achieve what was once the simple routine of my grandmother and put it in my big painting full of colors that will move and inspire all.
