Pitch 100 Superwomen Alumni

In 2017 we launched our first superwomen nomination and championed some amazing women. Some of those women have stood out since then and have gone on to do some spectacular things. We shine a light on them here below.
KATE TAYLOR, Managing Director, SKUNK
Kate Taylor came to advertising following a stint in telly. Wanting to change the world after university, she tried investigative documentaries with some heavy hitters, but soon realised that visual storytelling and beautiful photography were more her thing. TV commercial advertising beckoned. Over the years, (Curly) Kate has produced and EP’d for many award-winning directors at a string of established London shops; Rattling Stick, Sonny, Outsider, Biscuit and RSA among others. Now heading up SKUNK London she has signed some exciting talent, worked with impressive global brands and is looking to do plenty more.

MELODY SYLVESTER, Head of Design & Animation, Executive Producer at RSA and Black Dog Films
2018 marks 24 years in the business for Melody Sylvester. She has worked across all aspects of the film and TV commercials industry, including post production and editing at Final Cut London & New York, at ad agencies Lowe Howard Spink and Mother, and as Senior Producer for multi-award winning directors Smith & Foulkes at Nexus Productions, and for the last eight years at RSA and Black Dog Films. Sylvester has a degree in English and American Literature and Film. She has a two-year-old son and a Parsons-Jack Russell terrier named Pickle.
“My superpower: I’m a nurturer. I also have a great eye for ideas, talent, oh and trainers.”

VICTORIA FOX, CEO, LIDA
A customer engagement agency, LIDA is part of the Saatchi Group, across that network Fox is the executive sponsor for Diversity and Inclusion, and is leading the programme to accelerate the entire group towards a more diverse and inclusive workforce. Fox has had a career in marketing and advertising for more than 20 years and has worked at and led agencies across the full spectrum of marketing disciplines from brand, CRM and digital through to shopper marketing. She is married with two young children “who keep things lively!”

ISABELLA PARISH, Managing Director, 1st Ave Machine
Isabella Parish spent well more than a decade at global production company Partizan. During her time there she set up the production company’s animation arm and produced many award-winning commercials and music videos in both animation and live action. In her role at 1st Ave Machine, Parish has overseen a growing roster of directors at the company’s London operation and worked with brands such as Stella Artois, Samsung and Google.
“My superpower: Literally having very long Mr Tickle arms which means that I can bring lots of people together.”

LOLLY MORRIS, Design Director & Illustrator, Iris Worldwide
Creativity is in my bones and I feel so lucky to do what I love every day, making beautiful things. In my spare time (yeah because I have spare time), I like to stalk random people on Instagram and send them doodles of the #selfies. It’s a hobby obsession that you can follow at @stalkerdoodle.
“My superpower: Multitasking. Spinning many plates and my job is to stop them falling! Every Mum is a Superwoman. Fact.”

KATH SAWSZAK-PIERCE, Managing Director, Marshall Street Editors
Kath Sawszak-Pierce joined the newly opened Marshall Street Editors in 2000 as Producer/General Manager and was promoted to Managing Director within five years. Sawszak-Pierce has been at the forefront, (together with owner-editors John Mayes and Tim Thornton-Allan), of developing the company from two to 14 award-winning editors. Prior to Marshall Street, she worked in hotel management, and had a five-year career in Law. She is very proud of her editing roster and the Marshall Street family, and is as passionate about looking after her team and clients today as she was on her very first day.

LINDSEY CLAY, Chief Executive, Thinkbox
Lindsey Clay has had roles at advertising agencies including McCann Erickson and J Walter Thompson, working for some of the industry’s biggest clients and most famous TV-advertised brands. She is a non-executive director of content agency, Somethin’ Else, and is on the board of the British Arrows Awards. She is a trustee of The Rank Foundation, on the board of its production company CTVC, and is chairwoman of The RankFellowship-itsleadershipawardalumnigroup.ClayisarecentPresidentofWomen in Advertising and Communications, London, a fellow of the Marketing Society and member of MGGB.

KATIE KEITH, First Lady, Rattling Stick
Katie Keith has been described as the company’s “mover and shaker,” and with an exceptional eye for creative flair she’s also been hailed as one of the industry’s finest talent wranglers. After joining Rattling Stick in 2010 from JWT’s TV Production Department, Keith has become a highly respected member of the UK’s advertising industry and sits on the APA Council, as well as working closely with both Creative Circle and ADCAN. She is also a passionate ambassador of craft and a self-confessed yogi.
“My superpower: I don’t like to admit defeat or give up easily, unless it’s my kids giving me ‘that look,’ then I’m pretty (super)powerless.”

NENE PARSOTAM, Co-Founder & Senior Art Director, Vine Creatives, Founding Member We Are Stripes
Nene Parsotam has worked with some of the largest brands in the world, including The Wall Street Journal, Disney, L’Oréal, HP, Warner Bros, Jaguar, Pepsi, Pizza Hut, Visa, Samsung and Vodaphone. She created and crafted digital and online ad campaigns, traditional and digital billboard designs, branded and rebranded, as well as launching products in a variety of international countries. Currently, she runs Vine Creatives (a branding agency for the African diaspora & businesses with an African focus), and also runs ethnic diversity creative career initiative Stripes, which aims to get more BAME talent into the industry.
“My superpower: My sense of humour. I also love seeing potential in others, connecting them to opportunities and supporting them on their creative journeys.”

ANTOINETTE DE LISSER, Marketing Manager, Absolute Post
Often described as a “force of determination, efficiency and charisma who thrives on a challenge” De Lisser’s confidence comes from working in advertising and media for 30 years, at independent agencies and in TV broadcasting. She has worked her way up from PA to Ratings & Programming Executive and also established The Legend Company. She’s always had a keen interest in film and television, preferring to work behind the scenes. Nominated as one of the Pitch 100 Superwomen, she has used this to have discussions about a more “inclusive” creative environment where people from all backgrounds are welcomed.
“My superpower: Over familiarity - the ability to take someone at empathetic face value and interpret that into something viably commercial.”

SOPHIE BROOKS, Freelance Producer
Sophie Brooks works freelance in the commercials and fashion industry. After training at RSA Films for five years she spread her wings as a Producer to work for Gainsbury & Whiting, Pulse Films, SKUNK, Prettybird and AND Productions. Career Highlights include creating a Philip Treacy LFW show for Michael Jackson’s unseen Thriller tour collection worn y Lady Gaga, working with JJ Augustavo/SKUNK on the re-launch of Adidas Predator boots, shooting with John Malkovich and Smuggler US for the Squarespace Super Bowl commercial as well as producing Sigma’s first video Nobody to Love which attracted 240 million views on YouTube.

VICTORIA KEENAN, Producer – Partner, BBH London
Victoria has worked in production for 12 years. She began her career in the film industry serving Emily Blunt cups of tea. She moved from production company to agency side in 2008 and grew into an agency producer at adam&eve (now adam&eveDDB), working on award winning work for John Lewis and Harvey Nichols. She joined BBH in 2014 and in 2016 became a Partner. Her latest work for Absolut has received numerous awards at the British Arrows, D&AD and the Campaign Big Awards.
