Plantastic

Bringing the community into your local train station by planting with locally recycled plastic to build a communal herb allotment. Plantastic is a social and sustainable design project which encourages planting with plastic. Plastic pollution is a massive tending issue in the news. Most families throw away about 40kg of plastic per year. We know why plastic is a problem but we don’t know how to do something about it. This project tackles both issues of plastic pollution and not everyone being able to have an allotment in Tolworth. Commuters can participate in this community project by collecting HDPE Plastic, planting herbs, watering plants or just to bring awareness about recycling plastic. Commuters can then take some herbs home as a reward. This project has been continued in Tolworth by The Future of Farms at the Tolworth Allotments. A workshop has been built to teach people how to plant with plastic.
