Planting Poetry

  • Ed Cornish
Over the 2013 Easter holidays The Ministry of Stories ran a poetry workshop where they helped a group of school children write mesostic poems inspired by St. Mary‘s Secret Garden in East London. The Ministry then wanted to display the poems in the garden, in the locations that inspired them.

Since mesostic poems have a single word running vertically through them, that word became the back-bone of each piece and a system was developed using wooden blocks were the lines would expand as far as necessary. Bright colours were used so that the pieces would stand out in the garden, and the type was laser-etched so it would withstand the elements.
