Plastic Paradiso

  • Pavillion Dance South West

‘There once was a wind windswept place, near nowhere and close to forgotten that was filled with the things no one wanted….’ Plastic Paradiso’ is set on a lost island, not so far away from here, which is surrounded by plastic. The island’s only inhabitant lives there amongst the washed-up plastic. She makes the plastic into her house, to decorate her clothes, and sometimes into make-believe creatures that she can play with. But one day, a real bird arrives on the island. Can she discover the joy of real nature and friendship? Inspired by ‘The Tin Forest’ by Helen Ward, this is a charming and timely dance theatre show for children and their grown-ups that examines climate change, plastic pollution, and their impact on the planet. Choreographer / Performer Claire Benson and Designer Holly Miller reimagine our household plastic as simple props. This watery and magical world is brought to life through puppetry, dance, music, and lighting. The audience can join in too! Come and make your own plastic puppet before the show if you book here Relaxed Performance: suitable for children aged 0-11yrs and their grown-ups.
