Poetry in the Abstract

  • Rachael Marley
My practice allows me to freely experiment with materials and compositions by allowing each layer to be conditioned by what has gone before it. I am interested in revealing handwriting through the physicality of the actions needed to create the letters through the arms and body. Especially if elements of the handwriting are blown up, by way of a projector, to increase the scale. I compose the words so they overlap, write over themselves and cancel one another out, allowing the illegible to become just as important as the legible.
