Poster T-Shirt Range

  • Ben Skipper

These designs were influenced by a range of creative sources. These included vintage railway posters from the 1930s, where the simple use of design was used to portray instantly recognizable themes and forms, showing these in a dynamic setting. The figures were styled on the uniforms worn by the men of the period, in both British and Commonwealth militaries, their poses echoing those made famous by contemporary fashion illustrators such as Leslie Saarlberg. Each characters facial details were minimized, so that only the mouth was shown, influenced by the work of Italian illustrator Olimpia Zagnoli. The mouth was shown for its expressive nature. It can provide the viewer with an insight into the wearer, their determination and bravery, as well as their kindness and humour. Traits all shared by the Veterans and Carers, family members and staff of those who have benefited from the services provided by Help for Hereos.
