PRESENTER COVER LETTER

  • Joe Forrester
I am an extremely experienced presenter currently appearing on Sky1, 4Music, Sky Arts, Goal.com and LoveSport Radio. I am also a live specialist, hosting major studio shows and location shoots for brands including Swatch, Volvo, Sky Vegas and London Fashion Week. I am also a seasoned producer, writing, directing, sourcing and editing video content for both social and broadcast for brands including UNICEF, LEGO, BT and Amazon, while during my time at ITN Productions, I was involved in every aspect of production from the newsgathering process to presenting the content and as such have an extensive contacts book of PR, management and talent ranging from sport to music and film.

I am an entertainment and sports expert and have done over 800 interviews, from The Rock to Rita Ora to The Rolling Stones. I am also used to working on both single and multi-camera live sports video content, having hosted Goal’s Pressure Challenge series (which I also wrote and produced) and this season have been anchoring their weekly Premier League programme, That Weekend, Tho, delivered online to their 22 million + social followers and as such, am an expert in honing content to work both for broadcast and social media, particularly now focusing on making the most of Instagram’s exploding video output.

My passion is my live work, which has been extremely diverse and often challenging, including hosting unscripted 45-minute streams for Swatch and London Fashion Week; to large multi-camera studio shows for Sky Vegas and even being the anchor and commentator for Volvo’s ‘Constructors Championship’ in Spain, which is essentially the Olympics for construction vehicles! This experience means clients regularly seek me out because of the professionalism and reassurance I bring to live content, as well as an ability to react to events and bring humour to my work.

I am a very hands-on presenter and my work as a producer, director and editor has improved me immeasurably on-camera, giving me a much greater appreciation of effective production and scripting and I have a rare ability to work closely with crew and production staff to make sure any content is as strong as possible. I love to be involved in the research and scripting process, something that was evident on the latest series of What’s Up TV for Sky1, where I brought a lot of my knowledge to bear on an item about ‘the working homeless’. This is an area I am particularly passionate about, as I am developing my own documentary series on homelessness and poverty, however my interests are diverse, as I am also working on another on football mascots!

Behind the camera I’ve produced content ranging from driverless cars; to zombies taking over London landmarks; to giant-headed politicians chasing people for their votes, however as a presenter and producer I can turn my hand from the light-hearted to the impactful and have created bespoke campaigns for charities including UNICEF, Project Literacy, The Elizabeth Taylor AIDS Foundation and the Black Sea Maritime Archaeology Project. The latter being particularly close to my heart, as we spent three days aboard a research vessel off the Bulgarian coast capturing the excavation of a Byzantine shipwreck from the seabed and the package that I wrote, produced and edited later went on to feature on CNN, BBC and Sky News, as well as making millions of impressions on social media. It also tied in with my love of history, my greatest passion after sport, as I hosted the Yesterday’s News history podcast and am now the host of the Viral History podcast, as well as working on a new animated educational series that I have written and will be presenting. I also shoot on Sony FS7 and A7S and Canon C300 and edit on Adobe Premiere Pro to a professional standard, cutting projects from 15 seconds for Instagram and TikTok to 20 minute history films for broadcast.

My background writing, presenting and producing fast-turnaround content for ITN, ITV2 and 4music stood me in excellent stead during my career and newsgathering, research, scripting, shooting and cutting content for broadcast on extremely tight deadlines became second nature to me early on. I have spent so much of my life editing content in the back of taxis from the location to the office, ready to ingest and put out immediately, that it seems normal!

Yours sincerely,

Joe Forrester
