Autumn was first introduced to our TV screens as a contestant on the popular reality talent show: ‘The Voice UK’, gripping the audience with her captivating vocals ability. Born in the Netherlands and raised in London, she has emerged as a rare representation of the Somali ethnicity, as well as her Islamic background, making Autumn both an industrially unusual and remarkable music personality. Exiting the show at the quarterfinal stage, she has spent the last year on the development of her music, planning for her future release as well as performing at shows both within and outside of the Capital.
Those who have experienced her recent live performances have described Autumn as a hypnotic storyteller.
The naked and internally revealing lyrics erects what she refers to as her ‘Anthropoid’ journey, which is also the title of her soon to come EP. Autumn emphasises the theme of her project: existing and coexisting as human beings. Her narrative illuminates both the prospects and dilemmas that women encounter in their human journey, a journey that her audience will undoubtedly resonate and relate to. Sonically, the project will reveal a much more profound insight into her bright artistic abilities as a songwriter.
Autumn herself describes her sound as classic pop, “Always honest, transparent and very aligned with the core of human emotion. There are no skeletons and no masks”. In addition to her upcoming release, she wants to share a piece that can only be described as “Self Discovery”, a visual documentary that is set to be released simultaneously with the listening experience ‘Anthropoid’ provides. Her narrative of “self discovery” is one that Autumn personally feels that her audience will relate to, a familiar yet unique tale of a young woman experiencing personal growths, regrets, lessons in self-love and the fight against repression.
Both sonically and aesthetically: ‘Anthropoid is a retrospective experience that will bring you back to the Golden Pop era, filled with Buoyant sounds and unapologetic messages.
