JOB Produce a learning pack to promote the learning sessions for Primary schools for 2012. In 2010 we decided, to diversify from the traditional learning prospectus & came up with the idea of producing a 'postcard pack' which as well as promoting the 'school sessions' would show off the varied objects in the Museum's collections. Finally we wanted a nice piece of print, that the teachers would want to hold on to and perhaps put up on their walls. This has proved very successfull & as a result the sessions now get booked up very quickly throughout the year, Every year I try and come up with a different design & different packaging. Everybody seems to like the 'word cloud' that we use on the front of the postcards, so weve kept this design element for the last 3 years!
OUTCOME We had very little budget for this job, so I had to come up with an idea for a cheapish package to contain the postcards. I came up with this simple folder over package, with no 'die-cuts' and held together by an elastic band! After much research and finding it hard to come up with a nice recycled card, that didnt cost the earth?I discovered this beautiful 'grey board' that is 100% recycled. Its used in packaging for tv's computers etc. My printer wasn't 100% convinced about it! i.e. how the ink would take to it, as its quite textured? but it worked a treat & everybody really likes the packs. they featured on that TV programme Educating Essex (The Deputy Head had them up on his wall!)
