Proletariat

  • Mollie Worton

Proletariat explores the language an object can hold, and, how material composition can affect our preconceptions of said object. In this case, the chaise lounge. In Western Society we dictate the chaise to be an upper class feminine piece- a societal stamp. Using Sheep's wool and chicken wire to create the chaise, I played with blurring these assumptions of form as well as creating questions of function and comfort. Does it belong to the bourgeoisie? Or to the proletariat? And which class acts as the wolves or sheep within this concept?
