Prolomit stigma / Shatter the stigma

Green Doors (a Czech non-governmental, non-profit organisation which is involved in the work and social rehabilitation of people with mental illness), was part of a school assignment: Ideas in Context. The client chose to work with me as part of an exhibition about mental illness. The exhibition took place at Vnitroblock, and also featured stories and artwork of people living with mental illness. I created an animation and a series of posters, both in Czech and English. By using general quotations based on stigmas, the tone is very personal. In a way it could be things people have said before. Because stigmas usually are based on opinions that are not informed. So they’re sayings are distorted. In the visual language I also make the reference to broken mirrors. Because these thoughts are being projected on the people who suffer from mental illness. The series hang in several other cafe's in Prague over time, where the staff working are suffering from mental illnesses.
