Public Sculpture - Harehills, Leeds

  • Ian Kirkpatrick
I was commissioned by Leeds City Council and East Street Arts to design a large public artwork to be sited in front of the Compton Centre Libarary in Harehills, Leeds. The stainless steel sculpture was hand-painted with iconography reflecting local history - and stands 3m tall on a 1m black granite plinth. It was unveiled in March 2018 by the mayor of Leeds, and was featured on Creative Boom. The sculpture is currently shortlisted for a Leeds Architecture Award in the category of Public Realm and Landscape Design.
