Q in the Park is a Staffordshire based music and arts festival that entertains revellers while they wait for public transport to the V festival - one of the Midland's biggest music extravaganzas.
I have been involved for the last 2 years in organising and delivering this event (one in Stafford Victoria Park and one at Wolverhampton Train Station), and after taking over the festival this year I am responsible for expanding and developing the event further. This is an event I took over from the previous Festival Director, since taking over I have developed the event increasing it to 2 days to further the attendance and audience participation in the festival.
I have also secured funding from various bodies including the Staffordshire Arts Fund, Big Lottery Fund and private donation, in doing this I had to develop a constitution for the Q organisation and rigorously justify how Q in the Park would benefit the local community in our funding applications.
This extra funding has allowed us to create a much more varied program of events over the 2 days, expanding from just music into theatre, (this year we are producing a shadow puppet production of Macbeth) plus a programme of workshops including circus skills, Brazilian drumming and ukulele playing.
