Inspired by the1970's, an era of liberation and revolution, where the world witnessed a night of rebellion with feminist activists storming the stage and most significantly, a celebration as the first black woman walks away with a Miss World crown. Although a galvanising moment in women’s history, the controversy of beauty pageants remains today with their judged performance of femininity and sexist ethos. Queen, explores these dates associations by opening the world of pageants to all genders and exploring the challenge of feminine, self-expression within a masculine dominated environment.
